ah oui on est à portland

nous voila sur les hauts de Portland,il y a plein de commerce dans des maisons anciennes vraiment non commun, ici on est complètement dans un autre univers, il y a encore plus d hippie, de gens bizarres, mais tout ça va très bien ensemble...on s'arrête à un salon de thé tenu par des extravagants...certains clients étaient sur internet, d'autre discutaient de choses et d'autres , vraiment agréable...

here were are on the uphill of Portland,there is a bunch of old house occupied by shops, really uncommon, here we are totally in a complete different universe, there are much more hippies, sketchy people, but all together match really well... we stop at a tea shop, owned by a kinda junkie, some client are surfing, some are chatting of things and else....Really nice

batailles de fontaines

étant sur les hauteurs nous allons vers le parc  Washington, qui est alors entourée de très très jolie maison il y avait un jardin des roses  à visiter néanmoins en mars, on va dire c'est assez NON fleuri....tant pis on s'est rabattu sur les balançoires...

While being on the uphills of Portland, we walk to the Washington park, which is surrounded by really gorgeous houses.
There was a rose garden, however in march, it was more like a desert than a garden....too bad, nevertheless, we enjoy the swing at the dusk.

L'énorme librairie sur 4 étages

On passe par la plus grande librairie de l quelques achats et dire

Puis nous sommes revenu au centre pour aller voir la plus grand librairie de l'état de l'Orégon, et avons galéré pour trouver un restaurant, la plupart des resto ferme à 17h - logique quoi - finalement ce sera pizza. On reprend le tram sens inverse: vers 10h30 vers notre " Auberge".

Le lendemain on décolle du motel et on quitte le chaos architectural de Portland pour un grand bol de nature un peu plus à l'Est.

We wentt hen to the biggest book shop of Oregon state, before finding a restaurant not without trouble - almost all of them close at 5 pm- we end up in for in pizza place. We take the tram back to killingworth (nice name for a station!) and arrive at our motel arround 10:30 pm.

Sunday, we get out of the motel and leave the architechtural chaos of Portland for a deep breath of fresh air further in the East.

hou, qu'on est mimi!

Les cascades de Mutnomah tombent sur deux niveaux, séparés en une chute supérieure de 165m and une autre inférieure de 21m, avec un dénivelé de 3m entre les 2. La hauteur totale des chutes est donc de 189m. Ce sont les 2nde plus hautes chutes des Etats Unis après celles de Yosemites en Californie. Elles sont accompagnée d'une légende qu'on n'a pas tout a fait saisie!

Un petit sentier de 45min à travers la forêt nous a permis de crapauter jusqu'au sommet des chutes offrant un panorama qui donne un peu le vertige.

The Mutnomah falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m), with a gradual 9 foot (3 m) drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet (189 m). Multnomah Falls is the second tallest year-round waterfall in the United States after Yosemite Falls.

A tiny path through the forest; 45 min long allow us to reach the top of the falls offering a vertiginous panoramic vista.

Le barrage de bonne ville

On arrive au grand barrage de Bonneville qui enjambe 2 des bras de la Columbia River. On a droit à une visite gratuite par une dame de la US Army qui contrôle le périmètre. C'est rigolo d'entendre des américains faire des leçon sur les énergies renouvelables tout ça tout ça; c'est quoi votre voiture déjà? un Dodge Ram?

Afin de ne pas perturber la faune environante, il y a des bassins de reproduction pour les poissons avec des parois vitrées pour les observer, biensur ils n'arriveront que dans un mois donc on n'en qu'un seul tout petit.

We arrive at the big Bonneville dam which cross 2 arms of the Columbia River. We have a free tour of the place by a staff of US Army controlling the area. It is funny to ear american people talking about sustainable energies and so on; What car do you have again? A Dogde Ram?

In order to not disturb the natural life of the surrounding, there is some pools on different steps for the fishes to reproduce the side are widows through which you can observe them. Of course as lucky as we are the fishes will arrive in just one month, we can just see one tiny one.
