En entrant dans le village on découvre le charme des rues mais les gens semblent un peu bizares... Et oui, samedi était le premier jour du grand week end du mystère donc tout le monde est déguisé. Le week end du mystère de Langley est l'un des évènements marquants de la vie de l'île. Un  faux journal est publié  dans la ville détaillant les personnes impliquées dans un crime mystérieux. Les participants doivent se render dans chaque boutique pour récupérer des cartes d'indices. Les vrais commerçants et habitants de la ville jouent les personnages de l'énigme et sont à l'écoute des joueurs. Chaque équipe propose sa solution au juri et des prix sont remis.

Entering the village, we discover the charming streets but the people seems kind of wierd... Yes, Satursday was the first day of the mystery week end so every baody is costumed. Mystery Weekend is a yearly event occurring the last weekend in February. A fake newspaper story is run in the South Whidbey record or a fake newspaper can be purchased from the Visitor & Information Center, detailing the persons involved. The players are instructed to search every store for a box of cards, with a clue to the mystery printed on each card. Various locals play the parts of characters in the story, and players are invited to question them for information. The players who believe they have solved the game may submit their solutions and enter into a drawing of prizes.

On repart de Langley pour le Nord, une escale à l'Est de isthme pour 4 photos de paradis, longeage de la côte et arrêt au parc de Meerkerk. Un jardin caché dans la forêt, avec les pied dans la baie offre aux visiteurs un petit coin de verdure très varié et reposant. Le tout est entretenu par des bénévoles dont une dame artiste peintre qui vit au fond du parc.

We leave Langley for the North, one stop at the island most narrow path to take some picture of paradise, along the coast by car and ending at Meerkerk gardens. A garden hidden in the forest, with the feet in water offers to tourists a wonderful green and peacful place. All of that is held by volunteers one of whome lives in the back of the parc.

Producteur de vin de mûres...

Plus haut sur l'île, on s'arrête sur une propriété dont la grange est aménagée en marché couvert pour artisans et une annexe abrite un restaurant . On fait le tour des lieux en profitant des couleurs et du soleil puis on s'installe vite a table sous les conseils de la dame du parc. On mange enfin quelque chose de meilleur que quand on cuisine nous meme, c'est a ca que ca sert les restos non? d'accord, les quantite sont dignes d'un resto 5* mais on mange des quiches et une tartes aux mures succulantes. Pas trop repus mais regales, on rend visite aux lamas et on monte sur la colline. Le sommet de cette colline offre le seul panorama de l'ile qui permet d'observer les Cascades a l'Est et les Olympiques a l'Ouest.

Further in the North, we stop at a farm producing blackcerry wine that we didn't tasted, com on blackberry wine for french people!!! We have lunch there with a delicious leek quiche and blackberry pie. The quantity were high class like, but it was really tasty. Finally a place out where you can eat better than when you are cooking by yourself, it is what restaurant are mede for, isn't it? We say hi to the lamas and climb the hill. Up there we can enjoy the only panoramics view of the island where we can see both the Cascades mountians on the East side and the Olympics ones on the Wesst side: Beautiful even with the clouds.

fort Casey, reste militaire

Petite halte au fort Casey qui fesait partie du triangle de feu en 1880 qui devait théoriquement protéger la terre de toute tentative d'invasion provenant de la mer. Le fort Casey est aujourd'hui un grand terrain de camping de 1,89 km.


Plus haut dans l'île, on passe à coté de la base aéronavale près du port de Oak.

Admiratly Inlet was considered so strategic to the defense of Puget Sound in the 1890s that three forts, Fort Casey on Whidbey Island, Frort Flager on Marrowstone Island , and Forst Worden, were built at the entrance with huge guns creating a "Triangle of Fire" that could theoretically thwart any invasion attempt by sea. Fort Casey is now a 467 acres (1.89 km²) marine camping park.
